Scary check engine codes

cycled through the gears aka 6k rpm shifts from 1-2-3 and then slowed down when i noticed my check engine light blinking. (blinking=bad/critical, while steady check engine light usually is noncritical). I went home pulled the engine codes with my scan gauge to find that it was a multi-cylinder misfire! specifically cylinders 2 and 3. My battery is really old as in the original. Anybody think this could be my problem? I feel stupid cuz i am an EE student and my multimeter is broken so i can't even measure the voltage on the battery

Sounds like UDP symtoms. If you don't have one how are the belts? Since they are driven by the balancer, they could influence the harmonics.
Or your wires/plugs are getting weak.

doubt unless you other funky things happening related to power. Find out what RPM the misfire is happening. It could be a bad harness which is a 15 minute fix to a sensor or the coil pack itself.

problem found, I have been living with a broken flex pipe in my CAT down pipe for some time now and I realized over the past few days that the exhaust gases are spewing directly into the engine compartment because now the flex pipe is totally broken, but the exhaust is not falling down etc. Anyways i am having the same issues the SRTs have, overheating coilpack. I touched the pack after i just came back from a normal 10min drive across town and it was really freaking hot like you couldn't leave your hand on it for 1/2 a second. Luckly I just got in the parts to fix the down pipe issues yesterday. New vibrant cat to weld into my cat less down pipe.
BTW i dont' have a UDP...... YET

I don't have togo that far, I already am having a new down pipe installed with high flow cat etc. I just have to get rid of the exhaust leak.

Should have been 0302 and 0303. Cyl. 2 and 3 misfire.

At least you have a scan gauge. The flashing CEL on my '01 doesn't leave any codes. Until I make it go to a solid CEL, then I get 0302. But mine is the UDP. It only started immediately after install/above 5000 rpm, and there is no audible miss/loss in power.

I got the scan gauge for $75 and its super use full. I was surprised when it arrived that it came with a Neon SRT4 on the instruction manual. I am gonna have to pay close attention to my setup in the next month the scan gauge is gonna be perfect making sure the 02 sensors work and my engine coolant isn't going to high. My car is gonna go through some big changes :).
