Srt-4 exhaust on a 02 sxt??

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

What does this setup do?? Aside from cosmetics and audible difference, does it help the airflow at all?

Nope. Considering the inlet is no bigger than the SXT rear/muffler...

Other than being obnoxiously loud, and the tips looking out of place(IMHO), it really doesn't do much.

Ppl don't give the oem muffler enough credit. Unless there are some serious mods, the oem muffler does just fine.

It's still a restrictive muffler and removing it completely would benefit flow. It would be obnoxiously loud, and you may not pass inspection in your area. Check to see first.

If you want a decent sounding dual exhaust, your going to have to spend some money. I just installed, not including the tru benz piping, a "quiet flow" camaro muffler pn 22253 ($75) at Federated Auto Parts, and had it and the tips welded in for another $75, so there's $150 just for the muffler and tips installed. So for a stainless muffler that is a bolt on, you can expect to pay a little more. I could have got the SoundFX PN 18232 for about $43, but it doesn't have a lifetime warranty.

Just some options, and an idea of costs.
