a cai of mine...

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

a cai of mine...

Post by pyistazty » Sat Jul 18, 2009 3:42 am

i had originally bought this intake with intentions to turbo my neon, which i still do, but i may still do it, cuz i love my neon and wanna make it faster....

ANYWAYS...
i believe this intake is supposed to hook up to a turbo

on the right i believe is where it would attack to the turbo, filter hooking up to the left side...my Q is could i hook up that right side to my throttle body and kinda mess with it from there?

it came with instructions (not very descriptive ones i might add), but it doesn't mention anything about a turbo...

i just came here to get an informed opinion.

...thanks!

Yeah, there is a reason they don't mention anything about a turbo... cause you don't need a turbo to have a CAI.

A turbo works at the opposite end off the exhaust.

Paul, I think he's asking since it is bent to fit the turbo inlet location, what can he do to make it work with the N/A throttle body location.
pyistazty:
I think your going to have a bit of trouble, since the turbo is located at the rear, and the TB is at the front. The piping is designed to go to the firewall location, so it may be easier to just get an ebay CAI and save the tubo one for when you do upgrade.
By the time you ghetto that to work, you will prolly spend more than a cheap ebay one.

Save that intake for after you turbo and drop that filter into the air box for right now. I have no experience with ebay filters, but I hear they're crap.

You may want to pick up an AEM or a K&N for ~$40. You'll be able to wash and reuse it and it flows very well.

i figured that probably would have been best, to get a new one and wait until i get a turbo, but i was just going to see if i could put this one to use. thanks for the advice!

p.s. and yes i know you don't need a turbo for a cai, but this specific one does.
