a dumb question, but i'm a newb to engines....

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Plastic = less thermal conductivity. Plastic = less weight. Plastic = good. For IM's anyways.

Well, yes porting them may be a problem. But they do have a slight advantage of being "polished" from the factory. I haven't seen many cast IM's as smooth as the runners in a 2.0 plastic IM.

Pretty hard to port match the IM to the head though...on a plastic manifold

I'm surprised they used plastic. Even shitty Hondas have cast manifolds.

The plastic actually works pretty well, although they blow up at 28psi.

Would that be a 1gn or 2gn IM?

Somehow, I can almost see a 1gn holding more boost.

 Sweet Carnage!

I could see a 1gn plenum moving into the radiator, from the runners straightening before they cracked. (If the bottom brace wasn't attached.) But that's just my twisted imagination.
