For those that are wondering why...
Rollers don't need a wear pattern, tho after many miles, I'm sure one may develop. But it is not critical to the lobe life, like flat tappet to push rod style.
These must spin at a 90º angle to the cam lobes to prevent wearing a groove in them, and it helps that the lifter spins up the ramp instead of strictly sliding up.
OHC cams cannot use flat tappet designs in the space provided, not that you would want to. Cam followers paired with lash adjusters (DOHC), or rockers with lash adjusters (SOHC)are more the norm for OHC engines.(parenthesis are meant as far as our neon engines are concerened)
The only two kinds of them that I know of: slippers, and rollers. Slippers were mainly used in the late 1980's to early 1990's, until they finally put a roller on, in place of a hardened insert.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
