Will a Ford SCT Flash scanner work on my neon?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Will a Ford SCT Flash scanner work on my neon?

Post by Mopar65 » Sun Nov 08, 2009 12:25 pm

This may be the dumbest question ever, but my buddy has an 04 mustang and bought an SCT Flash device and I was wondering if it would work for my neon. Yes I know Ford is not Dodge, but I just figured that maybe it was more or less just to get more money from having to buy different devices on their part. Thanks guys I just don't want to plug this thing in if it may fuck up my car.

I would not count on it. The computers are very different. The flash tuners are also designed specifically for Ford, Dodge and Chevy and then, on top of that, for each specific model vehicle. The reason isn't so you have to buy more of their products, it's that 1. once you tune a car with it, it locks itself to that vehicle and 2. the programs in the tuner are for the make and model vehicle that the tuner was built for.

Next time you talk to him, ask him if that tuner will work on my moped too. Oh, wait. I don't have a moped.

Pssh, as well as Ford is doing, we may all be Ford Guys. American brand anyways.

To be honset, for 1970's to '80's I'll take a Ford truck over any other.

i honestly think there is misinformation in this thread.

you can physically connect it to your neon through the obd port since all sct flash modules use that, however the tune will not work, if it even loads it will fuck your car up.

so answer is now, but you can connect it. lol

Then honestly, I think the question has already been answered. He asked if it would actually work, not if an OBDII plug would plug into an OBDII plug port in his car...
