They shouldn't be. Solid core wires, as far as I know, are for O/R use only.

The "radio interference" will send modern electronics into fits. That is why they are not used so much anymore. The old 70's ECU's are about the only things that can run solid wire core cables. Those were awsome with the accel super coils - you could mess up ppl's TV's as you drove by.

Of course listening to a radio in the car was pointless.
They were also rumored to mess up police radar. IDk if it was true or not, but I never got a ticket in the car I had them in. Could be that because I had no radio, I paid more attention...

By FCC rules, they are prolly not "legal" but I never got pulled over for using them. Most modern name brand aftermarket performance wires are prolly just as/nearly as good as solid core anyways.

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

My auto shop teacher, who does drag racing, said solid cores are primarily used in drag cars because there, IIRC (been 6-7 years), is no loss really through a solid core, therefore, the most spark power. The interference he said is also why there are no airports around drag strips as well.

^^^That is incorrect.

Englishtown Raceway has or had it's own airport on the grounds.

There's always an exception to the rule.
