crane cams????

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

I believe you can only get them on the used market, or from a retailer who still has them in stock. IIRC they have been out of production for quite some time. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The numbers refer to the grind and profile of each cam. The higher the number, the hotter the cam. I would recommend some sort of aftermarket engine management, such as MS, if you plan on getting anything significantly larger than stock. You won't get gains without tuning.

EDIT: Here's some info from our FAQ section, scroll down to the Camshaft section. I just checked and Modern Performance does not show any cams available for sale new anymore.

I wouldn't go any larger than a Mag cam or equivalent without upgrading valve springs. But like I said, without changing your PCM tune you probably won't see very impressive results. Why do you have a cam gear and not a cam? :banghead:

Thats how i bought the car, it came with it. The previous owner installed it? So in other words just leave it alone?

Ah I see. Yeah if it were me, I would spend my time and money elsewhere. A cam is an upgrade for a serious engine build IMO. These engines just don't respond to bolt on upgrades like older ones did. Are you sure it doesn't already have one? I mean, if it has a cam gear and you're not the one who put it on...

i would do a magnum, crane 12, or comp cams 400. anything after that needs fuel tuning, trust me on that
