I've yet to see someone on here with it, but I'd be interested in seeing how it performed. Does it have some way of pulling cold air? I'm too lazy to look it up lol

well it has a "heat shield" that blocks the hot air i guess hahaha who knows but i really like the look of them

I don't know about blocking hot AIR. It might hold off heat-soak a little longer than a conventional CAI, but unless it is totally enclosed, engine bay ambient heat is going to make its way in. The ICEMAN intake is really the best on the market as far as temperature goes, as plastic is a very poor conductor of heat. Aluminum, on the other hand, is an excellent conductor and will allow heat in much quicker.

I am running the mopar set up which is similar to the K&N you talk about. Is this the kit you speak of..

I will try and get a pic of mine tomorrow.. I love mine because I didn't want it in the fender well either.

Mine draws air in from behind the light and it keeps the original tube for the factory box in the fender well.

yeah i see what your saying...and thats what i have right now is an aluminum tube..i would like to have an iceman but hard to find and im not sure if they go into the fender well?? which is a main reason for wanting the K&N FIPK, though i know there are many others out there that dont go into the fender well.

yeah thats it...does the mopar one look exactly like that? Also where did you get the mopar one from?

The mopar looks almost identical the way its setup.. The only difference is its aluminum with a metallic gray looking paint.. Even though metal transfers heat worse than the plastic it has always surprised me as to how cold the filter is. I got mine off e-bay, brand new for 50$.. I searched everywhere and can't find where Mopar even sold one like that but it was in the Mopar box with Mopar instructions and blue filter. I will do some more searching and see if i can find it

^^^ There's the Mopar one I had. It's the same as the AFE one (click here).

(Note that in my pic I cut off the holder for the fender tube and painted the sheild. And it has a different hood seal because the original got beat up in a crash. And it has a different filter too.)

so basically for almost $300 your getting a filter and a half cut out box. i can do that rite now with my stock filter box and a stock filter. just cut my stock box and leave the filter and wa la $300.

what im getting to is.. just keep your ebay CAI. if its getting filthy or something easily then use a splash shield guard.. thats if your not already.

^^^ do you like the set up?

I just wonder does the heat shield blocks the hot air? because the air is in the air. ebay CAI with kn is a nice setup and I like it very much.

Would that AFE kit work with a MPx 60mm TB?

I have been looking into other options other than my injen CAI for the rainy season.

With the mopar style i wouldn't see why not.. Mine has a lot bigger hole than the factory throttle body actually is. You might just have to drill two holes in the plate to mount the TB to it. I dont know if the factory bellows tube fits the 60mm, if not you might have to custom make a hard pipe with silicone couplers

Maybe I could use my existing Ingen bellows tube?

AFAIK the stock bellows fits the MPx TB.

if the stock one fits the 60mm that would be the easiest.. But the Ingen would probably work also you might have to trim it shorter as I have heard the MPX's are longer.

Another thing you might have to do is use a flexible coupler like ^^^ because when you mount the TB to the plate it is not lined up perfect with the intake outlet and you might need a something like this coupler to compensate. Thats why i said the stock bellows tube would be easy. But you might not, just a thought

put stock air box on and cut the front out

by ltr450r
yeah that's what i did originally it just looked to tacky for me. plus i got the brand new mopar kit for CHEAP so.. I would never buy it for the retail price. It is a nice piece but not worth $300 or whatever they want.. As for the K&N one I would imagine its not as nice as the mopar and about the same price.

This has crossed my mind a few times. I may just end up doing this after all.

Make a new bellows tube and an ebay intake that takes air from the wheelwell will be fine. I can take some measurements for you, pm me.

I think I am going to end up with the Afe kit and modify it to hold the 60mm MPx throttle body.

I'm just not sure what to do with the sensor, I don't want to keep the fender tube.

just drill a hole into the AFE metal box thing and put the sensor there or drill a hole in the back of the filter and stick it in there. I put mine in the filter..
