Noob OBX LTH question

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Noob OBX LTH question

Post by DroopDaddy408 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 11:27 pm

I received the obx lth earlier and.....I for the life of me cannot figure out how to mount the smaller pipe with the flange and gasket material doughnut that it comes with. :tardbang: I dont even know which end goes into the main header. After raggin on me, can someone help me out.

The donut gasket goes between the end of the header and the collector pipe that bolts up to the end of the header. There will be a slight gap when the gasket is in place between them.

Both pieces have a flange on the end with 3 holes where the bolts go through to tighten them together. Should be pretty obvious where they connect.

I've had my fair share of retard moments like that, none of which I'd like to admit on a public forum.

Well in my defense( ) there were a few contributing factors.
1st:beer
It was after "Miller Time" when I received my parts and I was checking them out in my room.

2nd: I hadnt started working on my car yet. If I had the main header installed I would have been able to tell the angle of the downpipe.

3rd: The reverse end of the downpipe, when looking at it in my room, fit perfectly in the header.

Ok, enuff bullshit, I'll admit it... I'm a Noob. :thefinger:

Everybody has to learn something the hard way at one point. I usually break something on the car when I learn the hard way. If all you did was look stupid online, you got off real easy.
