timing

so what is gained when advacning or retarding your timing? just wondering becuase i went ahead and got an adjustable cam gear to install when i do my comp400 camshaft. becuase i figured why not every one tells me to run a turbo or nitrous you have to be ableto adjust your timing (plus it looks cooler than oem lol). but my question is is there anything to be gained from advancing the timing/retarding the timing without boosting or spraying?

when you run nitrus or turbo tyhe timing they are talink about is spark timing. that is controlled by a PCM or standalone. the cam gear will adjust your cam timing which basically just moves your powerband/peak HP & TQ up and down the RPM range
