I'm looking to get an mp udp and I'm wondering what kind of negative effects it has. I have the stock sound system and HID's and I live in Calgary where it gets very cold in winter and I'm looking for opinions on how udp's work in freezing weather and just what kind of negative effects they have in general.

well i live in mass. and it gets pretty cold here not as cold as calgary but i don't have an issue. only thing is it squeals a bit when it's cold but just the acc. belt

Works just fine for me. Have had an AF/X for years, and there were a few cold years in Thunder Bay. Full out if you use the rear de-froster at idle with EVERY piece of electronics on the battery light will come on after 20 seconds or so, but only at idle. Once you get above idle in the rev's it's fine. I hardly ever used the rear defroster so my battery light was never on. Other that I've had the car from +40 to -40 degC and the UDP has been fine with no problems.

Should I need an overdrive pulley? Is it necessary if you don`t have a huge sound system?

It's not really needed, but sometimes it doesn't hurt.

Just don't turn every single electric device on at the same time and you won't have a problem.

I have had zero issues (electronically speaking) since I installed my MPX UDP, but then again I live in CA and all I have audio wise is a Pioneer headunit!

Never had my battery light come on with my udp. Only thing is it makes my car shake if i have the a/c and rear defrost on, But i attribute that to my race Mm inserts.. I felt it was well worth the 50 something dollars i paid for it.
