Right engine mount

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Right engine mount

Post by Rondeau04 » Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:47 pm

i have had bad vibrating in the engine, and originally thought it was the torque struts so i replaced the upper and the lower but the problem was actually the right engine mount that's located pretty much right in between torque struts. so just to stop the vibrating i jacked up the engine and was able to put a piece of rubber in the space so its at the correct height. and the vibrating has stopped.

but i cant seem to find any diagrams on how to do the replacement on this part.

if anyone could please post a website that has these digrams it would be very helpful and i would greatly appreciate it.

Raise car enough to remove the tires, and support with jack stands.

To get the middle mount out, the bolt behind the black plug in the fender well needs removed.

Then remove the trans mount, torque struts of course, and move the engine/transmission towards the driver side.

The halfshafts will let you move it enough to get the mount out. it is tight, but that's how I changed mine.

The trans end will need to be lowered to clear the frame. I used two floor jacks. It was very interesting, and not the best way, but it worked. Just use lots of paitience, and caution!
With the exhaust attached it helps stabilize the engine, but you still need to keep the IM from resting against the radiator fans. If you do not feel at all comfortable doing this, then taking it to a shop is about you only other option. With some things, it is cheaper to pay a shop, then to injure yourself, or do more damage than what it would have cost to have it done.

thanks man. that's about where i was with it. from where i got by looking it was the same. i think i will just take it to a shop and have them fix it. where as if they break something they fix it.

i can pick the part up and just pay the labor.

i figured because of the location that it was going to be a pain. couldn't find any diagrams anywhere on how to do it.

I don't think too many ppl mess with it, unless the engine is already out.

I am just a cheap, stubborn bastid. :D
