Water inlet

Post by MrAngry » Fri Apr 23, 2010 1:57 pm

Anybody know how to get the water inlet tube on? I've tried just pushing it in and also twisting it in but it doesnt want to go all the way in. I cant even get one of the bolts started to keep it in place.

Water inlet? Is that a technical term?

Try being a bit more specific.

That'd be where the coolant enters the block.

Some oil on the o-ring will help it slide in. Also, some sandpaper can be used to clean the opening in the block to help it slide in and seal better.

Ah, THAT tube? Yeah it couldn't hurt to clean up the mating surfaces a bit.

Chrysler recommends lubing the O-ring with coolant. But yes, that pipe is a bitch :cussing:

Great I'm getting ready to put the Pt outlet in the 2.4.

And Derek, Water Inlet is the term they use for it. That's what it comes up as under the part number. I wasn't sure what it was either till I saw a picture of it.

Well after sanding it a bit, then using some lube, it actually popped right in on the 3rd try. Thanks for the help people, that thing was a pain, and my 1gn is close to being drivable.

I just did one and sanding was pretty much the secret. I used silicone sealant though; makes a decent lubricant till it's dry :p
