try this..
viewtopic.php?t=10987

also you can remove the big plastic airbox in the fender, will give you beter airflow, if you turn your tire, and take out a couple screws in the driver side wheel well pull it back and you will see the bigass box in there, 2 10mm bolts holding it in..

my 01 i went through a cold air intake, and a better flowing exhuast, but now its all back to stock, because of the gearing on the 3spd autos i lost alot of low end torque.

for lack of a better explanation, and i dont want to start an air flow, torque range backpressure argument..
basically, unfortunately it is the restriction of the intake and exhaust that keeps the torque up for spirited around town driving, as thats how it came tuned from the factory..

also if you have stock wheels, do not get big heavy 17"+ wheels.. i ditched my 17" rims last week, went back to stock 15" with 205/50/15 wheels and noticed a huge improvement in accleration, a slightly better gear ration from the smaller tires and way more fun to drive.. and the speedo is only off by 1mph or so at 65

Autos really need forced induction to move out. Adding a cold air intake, etc. would do less than taking out the spare tire.

It's gonna cost a lot just to be a little quick. I just so happened to come across my parts for real cheap and knew mechanics and didn't have to pay shop prices. With my mods I've taken zx2's, cobalts & cobalt ss n/a, 305 fbod, lots of civics, 93 celica gt, and some old but clean ford truck with exhaust and edelbrock stickers on it.

My car has gotten kinda boring cuz I can only pick on ricers and other noobs who think they are fast so being the king of retards isnt cool lol.

I at least finally found someone locally with 3.94 transmissions, that will be my next mod.

It could be worse, you could be the "Queen Retard".

'Tis good to be the King!

There are some mods you could do to the ATX, but it would prolly be a wash cost wise vs doing an MTX swap. Just remember tho, you will need to source your MTX, clutch pedals, etc from another 2000 neon.
The MTX can be from '95 to 2000, but all else will need to be '00. The newer MTX/clutch set up can be used, but you would need to modify the firewall to use the hydraulic setup. This is one of the many joys of having a 2000 neon, there are many little details that are specific to that model year.

Boost will be your bet bet, it might have a higher initial cost, but in the long haul, it will be cheaper.

The true question you must ask, is the car solid enough to put a lot of $ into? If it only has minor rust (no holes/rotted frame) then nip it in the butt, and then start modding.

Nitrous.... and cross your fingers.
I had an 01 ATX neon. It had AEM CAI, R/T exhaust and it was slow as ballz. I thought the louder noise from the intake and the exhaust made it quicker. Probably gained 2whp.

pfft, probably lost 10whp... 3spd atx on a budget, stay STOCK...

srsly.. dont even bother...

spend ur cash on sway bars, springs, struts, suspension goodies... it will make it handle like a dream, leave the motor stock.... and you will be happier for it..
