Torque Strut Recommendations?

I'm looking for a decent "stock" replacement brand for the engine torque struts.

Anyone have experience with the Napa ones? Any other preferred brands? The stealership near me wants almost $100 each for the upper and lower torque struts.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Torque strut is the proper name for them.

I still have the original ones, with inserts, so I can't give a recommendation.

Stock is a good recommendation I'd say. They are pretty cheap and I think they look the best, those dog bones just look so small and tiny... needs moar beefy!

I bought Anchor brand OE replacement torque struts (got 'em from NAPA), and put my street inserts back into them. They are doing the job just fine. I actually just had the motor mount changed out with an Anchor-brand unit. Works just fine too.

Bigger is not always better. (Or so my GF says to make me feel better.)

well i wouldn't pay $200 for stock when the dogbones cost $140 now. check here. but if you really want stock sometimes they pop up around here for sale or ebay. i sold mine a couple months ago for $40 for upper and lower w/ only 50k miles on them.

Yeah AGP's mounts are fantastic, very high quality. They're about 100% stiffer than stock though, so be prepared for some extra vibration in the cabin.

Unfortunately, I picked up some inserts quite a while ago....so I was planning on using the inserts with whatever torque struts I buy....my old ones are completely shot.

I suppose I could try to sell the inserts that I have.

What about the AGP's....is it rubber or poly in those? Do we have a part number for replacement poly bushings for use in the AGP's?

Just curious. I don't know what I'm gonna' do yet.

Thanks.

The ? is, will the inserts work with an aftermarket TS? They may change the rubber insert just enough to screw you. Heck, DCX did it with oem trans mounts...

Yeah, I planned to bring the inserts with me to test fit for that very reason.

I bought replacement motor mounts from rockauto.com for under 20 bucks a peice and put in "race" inserts from Modern. Definetely took some lovin' gettin em in.

My inserts went right in. Cutting out the flashing material certainly makes it easier.

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot all about rockauto.com. I'll probably end up doing the same thing....then pick up the AGP's after another 100,000 miles.

Mine were tough because I don't think the rubber inside the mounts were exactly OEM specs. Nothing some PB Blaster and a rubber mallet can't fix. I'd rather have them be tough to get in anyways, more stability, right?

I couldn't get one completely in. I just started to bolt it down and it pushed the insert the rest of the way into the mount. Whatever works...

What do I need a hammer and a piece of wood for? Bolting it in solved the problem. I didn't have to go find more tools and take an extra step to accomplish the same thing.

A GOOD bench vise, is EXPENSIVE.:(

HOWEVER.....they are SOOOOO worth it.

It will be one of the best & most useful tools you can invest in.
Generally, unless they actually break on you, it will last for years and years and years, so you only need to buy it once.
