Let's talk where to buy a decent, not outrageously priced, catch can for a minute. It has been awhile since we had a thread about these so maybe there are some new outlets available. I'm in the market for one, so I want to make sure I'm seeing all the options.

I know you can find a decent variety on eBay, but what other places have you purchased from?

Yea, I was kinda wondering that as well.

Dan is running a purple eBay catch can in his car. How does it work? Who knows. I doubt he's done anything with it since we tossed it on.

I built mine out of a venom bottle, but I know your car is a bit too classy for that.

I used the bwoody one. Just got a plain one and sprayed it black w/clear. Seems to work well. Probably fills up every other oil change.

I ordered an ebay feller, I havent installed it yet but the welds look solid and it looks pretty... thats all that matters right? hell if a venom or monster can works it dont have to be too slick does it?

i say get one from ebay.

i mean theres really not much to worry about them.
all its gonna do is hold oil.

dont spend more than you have to on a basic catch can is what i think.

Yeah i was running an ebay one , worked fine... i modified it now so its actually a coolant overflow but i plan to buy another soon.

The best way to do it is as a seperator. In and out on the top, and then add a second drain to the oil pan to drain it back. Then you aren't going lower in the oil pan, and you don't have to worry about draining it all the time.

The BWoody one has a piece of perforated steel in it to slow down the vapor and catch the oil better.

The drain to the oil pan would be nice, but how would that work with the vacuum?

I have been running the ebay one for a quite while and it's pretty good. It catches oil and didn't blow up... and it's just $20.

As long as the check valve is between the catch can and the manifold, it works great. Obviously put the drain above the oil level though, and you can just use the smallest size line you can possibly get your hands on. If it takes 3 days for it to drain back, who cares?

That sounds great for a turbo engine.

I guess the vacuum draw from the manifold wouldn't be much.

After seeing what mine collects, I don't want it going back to the pan. It is not 100% oil. A thin water like viscosity brown solution is more what collects in mine.

But then mine is at atmospheric pressure, and has a cooler to condense the oil vapors.

My PCV valve is in the manifold, and draws the air through the catch can, vs the catch can drawing the air from the PCV valve.

No vacuum to worry about. After having a poly bowl from an oil/water separator crack, causing a vacuum leak, that future repeat problem was eliminated.

bwoody.....wont get sight glass leaks. basic design and easily mountable. its a great happy medium. i like it ten time better than the greddy one i used to have and some ebay ones i see are ok but meh

i made mine. same concept as the bwoody, except it cost me $2 for the fittings
