04 sxt to r/t

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

04 sxt to r/t

Post by thisdieingdream1 » Fri Dec 03, 2010 9:13 am

what are the diffrences between the 04 sxt and 04 r/t?

all i found was the compression ratios were diffrent.

04 sxt 132 hp, 9.3 ratio

04 r/t 150 hp, 9.8 ratio

is that it or is there more?
if so, what all would i have to do to my sxt engine to get it r/t?

ive heard about motor swaps but i was just wondering if i could avoid that.

the intake and exhaust ports is bigger, better header than a regular based neon, 5th gear isnt overdrive like on some base models.. u actually have power in 5th.
Cam spec on the RT is different as well also the Manifold is not plastic and is better.
The computer on an RT allows you to run 93 octane.

pretty sure thats most of it.

now about what u can do to urs well ill have someone else answer that.

There ia a whole thread or two on this somewhere....
one of them:

But the intake ports are basically the same, it is just the exhaust ports.

Other than that and the the PCM, as far as engine goes, pretty much it.

The MTX is OD in fifth, just a lower final drive gear ratio.

its not bad. it just wont do anything for you & you are basically just paying more on gas because it does nothing for your sxt neon.
