amm intake manifold help!!

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

amm intake manifold help!!

Post by XxWhiteNeonxX » Thu Mar 31, 2011 11:50 pm

ok, so i bought a long runner intake manifold to put onto my 04 sxt..
I started putting it on today, to find that the brass fittings for the pcv valve, brake booster, and intake sensor, all rub the coolant hardlines.. my question is, what should i do? Ive been told i could run softlines in place of the hardlines

any opinions are welcome!

Is there room to use elbows?

Yes you can eliminate the hard lines. Dante has done it.

More will if theirs rust through, and better ones cannot be found in the JY. They are now over $200 from the dealer. Just secure them so they don't rub through some where.

You could also plug them, (vacuum ports) and drill/tap holes in a more user friendly location. May not be as pretty, but hella easier to work with. Having attachments underneath FTL. But then I am a "function over form" kinda guy.

you could run soft lines and use the bolt holes for the hard lines to mount clamps to keep the soft lines from rubbing.

Or cut a set, so the part that goes around the head is intact. That way it is still mounted well, and no worries about chafing there.

i got around to installing softlines today. What i ended up doing was running it like dante did. the only difference is, where his rubbed the starter, mine virtually doesnt because i cut a bigger piece of hose and sleeved it over the smaller hose where it rubbed.

ill have to get some pics up tomorrow when i get a chance.

i owe all the help to dante for telling me how many feet and what size hose to get.
