hey, got the car running in the driveway for a while... i guess my fuel pump is running even after i shut the car off or something...

but when i shut it off, i heard a few loud clicks and noticed the top of the fuel pump relay starting to melt...

what could be causing this?

Either a bad connection in the PDC sockets, corroded contacts, or the fuel pump is drawing too much amperage. One would think the fuse would blow by this point, unless it is too high of a rating.

thats what i was thinking....i didn't check the fuse, i had to run out, but still...

whereabouts are these PDC sockets and how can i check them out?

which contacts? where is the best access to the fuel pump module?

The sockets would be the slides that the relay pins slide into.

60 is the fused side, 61 is the FP side. Should be fuse 21 amp rating: 20

I'm betting the relay contacts welded shut. This can happen towards the end of its life cycle. If its making a shitty connection due to this, it'll power the pump and create a ton of heat.

alright, well im going to try to limp it to the shop? i dunno how far i'll get lol...


brakes weren't seized so i moved it around the driveway... i dunno if its worth risking driving tho..


edit: so, the fuel pump was making strange whining sounds and the gas tank was making a bubbling sound, i'm thinking this is related? no?


any direction you guys can give?

ok, the socket for the fuel pump relay was corroded. dumped some baking soda/water in and let it dry. problem solved. fuel pump acts normally.


the only problem left is the heavy vibration at idle.

car acts normal when revved over 1000rpm.

i think the TRANSMISSION MOUNT has gone bad after 230K. seems to be shaking alot on the drivers side. the passenger mounts seem fine and have RACE inserts in them.
