Vaccum leak at brake booster??

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Vaccum leak at brake booster??

Post by boostalot717 » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:04 pm

On the front of my brake booster there what looks like a elbow with a filter. Which seemingly is supposed to have a hose hooked to it, question is where does that hose go to? Or what should be there?

The filter looking thing should have a line coming out of it that goes into the firewall. I don't know for sure but I would assume this is the supply for the cluster controls and blend doors. There is a nipple that is capped off on the little part coming out of the booster, if that's what you're talking about (before the filter looking thing). Mine is capped off as well, maybe this is the port for cruise control? Never had cruise so I don't know, might be unrelated and capped on all of them.

It is just a rubber cap, maybe it cracked from old age and fell off, who knows. You can probably come up with a replacement at a local parts store, it's nothing fancy.
