Help me hide these lines :(

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Help me hide these lines :(

Post by Johny » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:51 pm

Just put in my new TB, and I'm having major OCD with all these lines everywhere. Any way to hide atleast some of them (already did the accel under the intake thing)?

PS. dont mind the red tube, only one I had laying around that was long enough when I put in the magnum intake :( I have to find another one

the one that goes between the battery and head... cap off the barb on the intake and put a breather filter on the back of the valve cover. other than that, i'm not sure which ones you're wanting to hide

Cut a piece of aluminum sheet, and tie it from the core support to the STB. Paint a picture of a clean engine on it. Problem solved.

But yeah, I'm with Hudson on this. WTF is the covulate tube going over the PS reservoir?

Well, first off you should work on getting rid of that hideous yellow trans dip-stick and swap a MTX in there

Nah, but get a catch can for that red wire piece, and just like Hudson_Neon said, not sure what other wires you're wanting to hide... then again, a catch can would add an extra wire/hose... so nevermind :)

Hahahahahha, will do Bill

And that is the wiring from one HID ballast to the other. The provided wire wasnt long enough for me to run it through the back

That is a good idea... Mine's run along the radiator hose, under the clip thingy that the accelerator and cruise lines used to be under.

Honestly, I hate all the wires in our engine bay too, man. It just makes it look unclean and cluttered no matter what you do. I wish it could be like the old cars where there's at least room to reach your hand around the engine.

This is what I like engine bays to look like.

Even this one has too many wires for my taste, but I'm just impractical.

And yeah I'll try that Hudson, then if not gonna try 2005.Neon.SXT's way :p (sorry guys don't know your names <3)

How clean the bay is really depends on how much work you want to do. Some wires/hoses can be re-located or re-routed to make things look cleaner, but to really get the tucked effect, you need to do a lot more work.

Image

In that pic, I'm just over halfway along a true tucked engine bay IMO. To get to that point, I...

Relocated the battery to the trunk
Removed the A/C
Removed the P/S (it's back now, but much cleaner than factory)
Cut, spliced, re-routed the engine harness
Tucked the majority of the emissions lines out of view

Nothing that I did is all that hard. You just need to set aside some serious time and don't be afraid to cut into a lot of things
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

And you pull it off even with the windshield washer bottle still in there.

I did then, but the bottle has since been removed (and the blue hose).

I didn't have any resent pics from under the hood, so I shot these real quick...

While my injector cover is normally in place, I'm really proud of how well the injector harness re-wire came out :D
