Bad To Have No Muffler?
Just want to know from any others' experience, if any, but is it bad for performance to have no muffler? i.e., exhaust just dumps right behind the rear driver side wheel.

As long as the pipe is there, it is only bad for your ears. You could dump it from the manifold with two feet of pipe, and it shouldn't hurt anything, engine wise. The manifold/header, with the length of pipe will maintain the velocity. Only you will suffer.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

It's actually not that loud (I've sat in CH-53's. THOSE are loud lol). Anyway, car seems to want to choke when I WOT. Not sure if it's related to the P0335 that kicked on Friday night (CM knows about that one since I bothered her lol). Or the battery light issue that started Monday afternoon. Car has been trippin out latelyoccasional demons wrote:As long as the pipe is there, it is only bad for your ears. I think a crank position sensor problem could be part of it.
Any code with the battery light? Could be a bad IAT if you don't have the battery blanket sensor, or a bad alternator. Either way, it should have a code. If the voltage isn't up to spec, it could be causing the other issues.
I guess noise levels are relative...

Haha ya. I cleared the PCM Friday night when that MIL kicked on. Haven't had an issue yet. I actually tried to take the sensor out and maybe clean it, but I could NOT get that dang thing out. Got the 8mm bolt off, the connector, but that sensor didn't want to come out (under the starter). When I get around to taking it out, gonna replace the camshaft position sensor as well.occasional demons wrote:I think a crank position sensor problem could be part of it.![]()

As for the IAT (because I don't have a battery sensor on the blanket), I swapped it out with the sensor on the ambient temp sensor spot (driver side of the radiator, behind the bumper). Didn't really change much.
When the battery light came on, it was both when I was on the interstate doing ~80mph. The batt light came on, and my voltmeter spiked to about 16.0 volts. Ideas? Not sure if anyone remembers, but back in 2009 I swapped out my factory one for a JY alternator thinking that would help. Perhaps it's starting to crap out.
And no MIL followed the battery light. Turned car off, cranked back up fine, and the battery light was off.
Could the crank and camshaft position sensors cause the car to choke at WOT?

I would think it would be an issue throughout the rpm range. I could see a MAP or TPS sensor causing it. But as touchy as NGC is, it should be throwing those codes. How are the wires/plugs?

Plugs are a couple months old (Denso). I had seafoam'd prior to that (hence the video I posted back then). Wires haven't been changed, nor the coil pack. Would those two things have that much of an effect on what is going on with my car?occasional demons wrote:I would think it would be an issue throughout the rpm range. Where are the MAP and TPS at? I think I have an idea, but just need verification.

TPS is on the TB shaft. MAP is on the IM passenger side front.
Bad wires/coil could cause it to cut out at WOT. You could measure the resistance of the wires. If they are over 20K ohms, I would think they are shot, as short as they are. 7000 ohms on new cheapo wires that short is about the norm.
My Taylor Spiro Pro wires are 300 ohms each, just for a reference between bad, cheap materials, and decent.
The Taylor wires are about the same price as oem.

Turn the knob to
If it is auto ranging, it will either display it in ohms K ohms or M ohms
Example: 7.4 K ohm would be 7400 ohms. 7.4 M ohm would be 74000 ohms.

So I replaced my Crankshaft and Camshaft Position Sensors today ($39). Also tucked a few wires that I had wanted to hide. Car still does some serious voltage bouncing. I checked all of my "Big 5" grounds, and they're all properly grounded at 12v. One of my fuses for my HID's relay harness was shot, but replacing it didn't cure any of the issues with the voltage. The next thing I will try is replacing the alternator with a PT 140A alternator. Whenever I do that, if it doesn't fix it, I will just give up on trying to fix that issue
Gonna do a few WOT pulls on my way home from work tonight to see if the sensors were the issue with the car "choking" at full throttle.
And Bill, haven't checked the wires. Totally forgot about that... lol.
