Just wondering how often this thing goes bad?... does weather affect it?

I know there are threads where someone replaced it and right away it came back, and people suggested it was a bad one or was in the wiring...

But I did mine maybe 2 years ago... and I got it again yesterday... almost the same kinda weather as the last time, wet, rainy, snowy... and same situation...on freeway, cruisin..started to bog
got to work ok, but the check engine light was on when I went ot go home... seemed ok on the way home, no bogging..stopped at parts store and confirmed it was a P0340...

Got in today, checked the code again... started up and no check engine lite now

Should I replace it anyway?...again? (nothing wrong with the wiring to it, as far as I can see and check)

IIRC, it is OB's product review thread. You do know that you can key on 3 times and get the code yourself? No parts store needed. You may as well buy one. The NGC puts a higher work load on them than '02 older. It seems to be the pattern that '03 up seem to fail much sooner.

Seems to be a common problem with the ngc engines. Did you get the cheap autozone replacement? Those seem to fail rather quickly. There was a topic about it: viewtopic.php?t=58928

yes the sensors go bad rather quickly, poor design IMO, OEM ones last longer but are still prone to the same failure.

The one I got about 2 years ago was not the cheap one from the major chain auto parts store.
I decided to bite the bullit and change it.... got a day off and at least the temp is supposed to go up to 37 today... and no rain or snow.
Talked to a mechanic friend and went to the store he gets parts from, paid 30 bucks for it.... Rather do it now than when it is like 2 degrees outside...

as i said, even the stock ones fail eventually. thats why i always have spares, its one of those "neon things" lol
