Post by cdewalt1985 » Wed May 30, 2012 10:56 pm

Assuming you are talking about the tube from the rear of the valve cover .... yes you can use a red filter, a blue one would not work as well and a silver one would just be a big mistake, other colours may be available but i'd stick to red to be safe.

the tube on the right of the valve cover is the PCV valve, you dont wanna be removing that tube coz it needs the vacuum from the IM.

as for the hole in the air box that would be made from the removal of the rear valve cover hose, just leave it. It had its own filter and is tee-d from the airbox before the filter so it cant do any harm.

he has a CAI so it needs to be capped since its after the filter. chad they make vacuum caps and you can find them at most automotive stores, i know pep boys has them. same with the filter

ok thank you very much Nerox, i wasnt sure of size or anything.

Just called pepboys, they have a 12 mm breather filter in red and a 3/8 vaccum cap, will these work for me? Also will I need any fittings to hook up the filter or will it fit on the stock fitting?

You wanna get one of these

A 13mm one 12 might be too small, if it come with the hose clamp you shouldn't need anything else.

Pull the hose off the valve cover and slip that on the stem and tighten the clip.

I'm still not sure you'll need a cap the other end. Remove the hose from the airbox and nothing else needs to be done.

If you look inside the airbox that hose has its own filter like a sponge so it's not tapped of the air from your main filter

thanks man, they said they dont have a 13mm so I will have to look at the 12mm, and as Just stated I have a CAI so no stock airbox so no filter, so that end will need to be capped for sure.

But what needs to be capped? The old hose will be removed and your new filter will go on the valve cover. Unless your CAI has some kind of port for that hose?

most CAI's have a port for the tube to go to the breather port on the VC. You can either install another breather filter on said port, or cap it. I put a breather on mine, just cause. lol

Wtf don't put one on the intake just get an assorted vac cap pack from autozone and put one that fits on the hole.

A 12mm should work fine, I cut the one I bought to be bigger to fit on another valve cover.
