I am looking at maybe having to replace my cat. What is a good high flow cat for it?

do you want a drop in replacement or are you looking for more compact where welding may be required?

i use a vibrant bullet cat, its pretty small and has a very open flow due to the honeycomb catalyst. I had a buddy weld flanges on mine so i can bolt it up easily although you could just weld it straight into your downpipe.

Thinking more on the performance end.

I usually recommend magnaflow, but I've heard catco and vibrant are good.

This was a 'universal' converter was by Merritt.
Overall length just 14in. Inlet is 2 1/2in.; OUTLET is 2 1/2 - so it is an upgrade compared to the stock 2 1/2 inlet / 2 1/4 outlet.

It was quiet, and flowed good.
I can say that it really helped wake up my Magnum head installation, along with a Dynomax 2 1/2in. exhaust.
Plus, it was cheap. ( always a plus for a Neonite )

Cool thanks if I can get it in to the mechanic on Tuesday. I will see whether or not the problem is the cat or the O2 sensor/s. ALl depends on whether or not we get another round of massive rain and flooding here.

I just got the P0420 tonight.

I am suspecting it is the down stream o2, as the up was just recently replaced, and the exhaust still smells "clean". If you have smelled the exhaust on a non cat car, you know what I am talking about. There is definitely a different smell to it. I am not talking about the old school leaded gas pre emissions smell either, but it is similar.

I cleared the code, so we shall see tomorrow how soon it comes back.

Converter is a direct bolt on Magnaflow. About two years+ old. Maybe three...

Mine still has the stock cat on it. Probably stock O2 sensors also.

I have the vibrant hi-flow that is for sale on modern. I had a shop weld it in and put in a downstream o2 bung in it. It works great. The only problem with it is that i installed a vibrant resonator at the same time because I knew the hi-flow would be louder but it didn't cut down the noise enough. Its still extremly loud even with a resonator and vibrant dual exhaust muffler.

Well the code has not returned yet on mine, so I'm guessing it is the down stream o2. If the cat was bad, it should consistently set the code, one would think.

Electrical things can randomly act up. A platinum coated ceramic brick, I doubt will fix itself overnight.

I cleared the codes yesterday and got a code today. It is the normal one. The evaporative emissions system code. So I cleared that and I will see what gets pulled up next time I drive. As to the other 2 codes they have yet to return.
