I have the top bolt out ant the throttlebody and bellow tube off but cant access the lower bolt, If someone can please tell me how to get to it quickly I would be greatful, Like I said its torn apart now and it has pissed me off so figured I would come here before resorting to a BFH

DON'T use a BFH. It will BREAK the plastic intake manifold !!

IF this were my Neon, I would remove the intake manifold, to replace the starter.
Since the intake is so easy to remove and replace, why not ? It will make access to the starter, much easier.

The biggest challenge to doing the intake removal, is removing the lower bracket bolts, down near the starter.
Having a set of speed ratchets, is a HUGE help in doing this job.
If you don't have these already...... Use this as an 'EXCUSE' to buy them.
Think about it this way: The money that you save, by NOT having a mechanic change the starter for you..... can be put forth for more tools. :)

That's how I roll, anyway....

thanks nick but I got it now, just taking a lil break because it hot as hell out. And mine doesnt have plastic intake as its an r/t. Spoke with Justin and also figured out if I drop the lil metal brace under the starter I had just enough room to get into the bolt and get it out. I have the new starter installed now just gotta hook up the TB and CAI and the batt and im done.

At least you get to go get your money back. Starters aren't cheap, obviously, but sometimes it's worth buying some motor components brand new.

A little tip a fellow forum member taught me. . . leave those bracket bolts on the bottom of the IM off lol. They are a pain and IMO don't "do" much. The manifold doesn't buck that much.

Duh.... i should have noticed.

It's Uncool, that the junkyard sold you a bum starter.
I sure they will 'warranty' and exchange it - Most of the junkyards around here do, anyway..... BUT like you said, you still have to go through the trouble of removing & replacing it, all over again.

At least things will go smoother the 2nd time around, because you will have gotten plenty of 'practice' from the 1st time.
It's happened to me, more than once..... I could tell you some real 'war stories'.
Like the time I helped a local Neonite install a transmission into his car, and we ended up having to remove it and to re-reinstall it again, a 2nd time...... ( don't ask.) #-o

it just pisses me off because now its messing with work, fuel cost, and time. Now the car will probably have to sit all week as I usually am not home early enough to get the starter off and into the JY before they close.

A couple of members have had Magnum IM's crack at the flange, by not having a bottom brace, as most are installed on non magnum equipped cars, and the brace is tossed. Proper name is "Bending Strut" Meh, it's a damn brace.

So it might be worth while to re install it as it came from Mother Mopar.

Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

I agree with Bill on this.
Chrysler put the brace there, for a reason.....

yes the brace is going to stay, it not to hateful to move out of the way when needed. I am getting ready to go outside and pull this junk starter agian. Then to the JY to get another one. hopefully it wont be another junk one. I may swing by AZ after I get this one and have them test it before I install it, Or hook the jumper cables to it.

Rock auto probably has the cheapest new ones at $70, most are twice that price.
