what options are out there for low compression pistons, I know je makes some but I cant find them on there website. read on howell automotive, they are custom made pistions, or is there another brand that makes them cant seem to find any other brands out there for an 03 and up 2.0l. or is there another piston like a dohc? looking to turbo my neon, its apart due to back rings, or should I just run my head shims on stock rods and pistons? if so how much boost can be run safely? just looking for some insightful information. on what way I should go.

JE has 9.2:1 for the SOHC and I know Wiseco has some 8.8:1 pistons. That's all I know of though
you can run 10lbs on a bigger turbo with a stock motor (with ARP rod bolts and fresh gaskets) as long as you have a good tune. People have done 8-12lbs without issues. A bigger turbo will be easier on the stock internals, since you won't have instaspool

I do have a head shim that does drop the compression one whole point

Is this what your looking for?
JE now lists their pistons for both the SOHC, DOHC and the Mitsubishi 420A. One piston for all three.
DOHC pistons can be used in a SOHC, but the SOHC has a 49cc combustion chamber where as the DOHC has a 52cc combustion chamber. This give a compressio increase when using DOHC style pistons with a SOHC head, even JE pistons. A proper machine shop can shave down the JE 8.5:1 pistons to return it back to 8.5:1 with a SOHC head
