exhaust/downpipe question about a wideband

Post by 05MoparSRT4 » Wed Jan 08, 2014 11:39 am

Hey guys, little background I bought the car with 53K miles on for 8600 back in May. Car came with a MBC, AGP WGA, AEM CAI, and I THINK a borla exhaust. This is what my question is. I want to put a wideband on. Even though I am on a stock turbo I would like to put a wideband on. However I have no idea where to put the o2 sensor. My exhaust looks catless (unless it's built in with the flex pipe) and I think I have a stock downpipe. The flexpipe connects to the downpipe then I have the o2 sensor then the reservoir then the tailpipes. Any suggestions on where to put the o2? Or do I have to buy a new DP?

Upstream o2
*Edit*
This o2 is on the DP

Then here is both

Catless downpipe. You need to have a bung welded into your downpipe to install wideband.

this^ and also

"Install the bung downstream from the turbo before the catalytic converter. The high exhaust pressure before the turbo interferes with the lambda measurement and the high exhaust temperatures encountered there can damage the sensor"

where on the downpipe? considering it's some tight space in there. Plus no check engine light is on would a bung throw a code?

installing a bung will not throw you a code. I am surprised you are not throwing a code for not having a cat.

Unless the PCM has been hacked to shut off the downstream o2. It is now a possible, so it is a possibility. But more would have been done other than just switching off the o2 montor.
