Tight spark plugs

I am in the middle of changing the timing belt and I can get #2 and #4 spark plugs out but #1 and #3 are tight and there seems to be oil leakage around all of them.

Also, one of the tubes is sticking way up out of the rocker cover.

What does this mean?

You'll need to replace (or reinstall) your spark plug tubes.

Just try to get the plugs out without snapping them off. Make an attempt while the engine is cold, there is a bit less risk of taking the threads out of the head that way.

If you have a 1/2" ratchet, maybe get a 1/2" to 3/8" reducer and use the 1/2" ratchet with your 3/8" extension and spark plug socket for a bit more leverage.

Once you get the plugs out, and the tubes replaced, be sure to use antiseize on the new plugs to help prevent this in the future.

Yeah, I was in panic mode when I posted initially. After some diligence (2 turns out, 1 turn back in) I got the plugs out, the threads were BONE DRY. I swore I thought I put anti-sieze on them...

It looks like a VC gasket and tube seals are in my future along with new plugs, these were white/tan with deposits. Oil perhaps? I know it's burning some oil.
