Performance Upgrades :)

Yeah, I know, I'm new, and I'm sure this has been asked before so forgive me beforehand.

I'm looking for some performance upgrades to go along with the new SRT-4 spoiler that I got :) I want to get an exhaust to boot so I dont have the well to say the least, pansy looking stock exhaust on the SXT.

I was looking at this,

http://modernperformance.com/dcx/2001pacesetter.shtml

Now this matches my yellow paint, and I was wondering if any of you have this installed, and if its any good please let me know before I throw $200 plus at it. Unless you know where I can get it cheaper. ;)

Now I want to convert my engine to the higher power one, the Magnum. Where it has the "High Output" written on the cover near the exhuast manifolds. What parts would I need and how much $$ are we talking here?

thanks :)

Well the pacesetter sucks horribly some call it the pace shitter.....it has a bad tendency to rust out fast so I would save your money and get a better one. If you are looking for a swap yes the R/Ts magnum aka high output engine can be swapped if you know how to swap engines. Best way to do that is get a donor car and swap that way you know what wires go where and you will have all the parts you need.

bonus thanks.

Now how about this one,

http://modernperformance.com/dcx/neonvib00.shtml

any good or is it a pace shitter too? :roll:

EDIT::

Now I was just looking at the modern performance webiste, and they had this for the description of the pacesetter;

"This aluminized steel exhaust by Pacesetter is a cat-back dual outlet system which not only has the aggressive and performance-oriented look of a dual exhaust system but also a deep sound to go along with it.

They are also now fully aluminized systems which will not rust, and they are covered by a 1 year limited warranty by Pacesetter."

Still BS or what? Or am I just better off getting the other product? :)

Well I've never had any experience with pace setter, but if it's the color you want, and it has a 1 year warranty that says it won't rust, I'd say go for it. I'm sure it'll make ya happy and that's really all that modding cars is about.

I heard people having fitiment issues with the Pacesetter and shops had to charge extra for it to fit properly. The Vbirant its a great exhaust hands down. Its stainless steel and shines like a mofo. The only drawback it has is that it hangs down real low. But this can be fixed. The sound is simply amazing on it. Out of all the exhausts I have heard, this one has the best sound period. Its ideal for bodykits. Talk to scneonchick about that exhaust, she still has it on her car, I think.
I got rid of mine cause it looks really ugly from the side, so I got an r/t muffler that isn't as loud but looks really good and sits up high with the bumper w/o modifications. Also notice the shipping costs on the Vibrant.. not too shabby.

IMO that Tsuedo exhaust looks great except for the tip.. The tip looks like poo.

srt rear section is a cheap way to get loud dual exhaust and open up some horsies by ditching the stock muffler. pacesetter has a bad bad reputation, and Tsudo is an ebay special, so id go with something simple and proven. If you have big coin to spend, the doors open to some really nice exhausts, like Borla, Thermal, APEXI, and Magnaflow.

the pace shitter is crap. it will rust on you and be all :gay: the other one is not bad from what i have heard. i think scneonchic has it on her car and she says it sounds good and has not had any problems with it. i dont think that second one you listed is catback though....if that is what you are going for at least.

heres some reviews of the tsudo... one even praised it higher than the HKS
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1446685

they are fairly ner i guess... but they make a huge amount of things they even make stuff fot lexus and such.. so its not really an "ebay" special

anything that yanks another brands name for a product line qualifies for ebay special in my book. tsudo calls their product "N1" while we all know which exhaust rightfully carries that name. its not even a similar design, which is exactly where the name comes from in the first place, from Japanese GT cars. Im not sayin their shit doesnt do the job, but its going for less than 100 bucks per catback on ebay, thats straight up too good to be true.

None taken BRR :)

How much are we talking on the dyno max. I'm on a small budget, I'm not looking to spend more than $300. Thats why I've been looking at the pacesetter and vibrant. But ultimately I think I'm going to go with the Vibrant. Alot of people seem to think its a better product. Plus it comes with a 5 year warranty :D

YUP. That turbo quiets that exhaust down ALOT and boy, when you've got it straight-through N/A, it sounds absolutely awful. I guess if you put a glasspack inline, it's bearable, but I'm not really into stupid loud.

I still don't really understand what Pacesetter means when they say "fully aluminized so it won't rust". With aluminized steel, you get one chip in that coating, and it rusts and eats the exhaust slowly from that point. More chips = more rust = gayness. I dunno, whatever they're talking about, I love my Borla. It's on the pricey side, but it sounds really mellow unless you're wailing on it. Even cruising on the highway it doesn't drone. I even have my tips cut off a bit back from the bumper so it's catching just a little bit of resonance and it's still not bad.
