1gn and 2gn tranny help
whats the difference in proformace from a 1995 sohc trans . and my 2001 sohc trans both are mtx .
i have the numbers but im not sure , any help would be great here are the gear ratio's
1995 sohc base
1st gear ratio 3.54
2nd 2.13
3rd 1.36
4th 1.03
5th 0.72
Final Drive 3.55
Reverse Brake NO
OTGR Code DLB - 2.5
2001 non rt
1st gear ratio 3.50
2nd 1.95
3rd 1.36
4th 0.97
5th 0.81
Final Drive 3.55
Reverse Brake YES
OTGR Code DLV - 2.88
would there be much difference? good or bad?

The 1st gen trans is a bit shorter. Especially noticable in 4th when passing people on the highway. It will also piss you off when reverse grinds almost everytime you go into it. The 1st gen trans might be a tiny tiny bit faster, but definitely not worth your time to swap if you just want an "upgrade".
