The 1st gen trans is a bit shorter. Especially noticable in 4th when passing people on the highway. It will also piss you off when reverse grinds almost everytime you go into it. The 1st gen trans might be a tiny tiny bit faster, but definitely not worth your time to swap if you just want an "upgrade".

The 95 will work, but a way around the whole "grinding into reverse" is to shift to 2nd, then 1st, and THEN to reverse. It'll line up the synchros evenough.
