what's the difference between the 2000 and the 2001 3speed transmission
is the 2001 lock up

they both are, there both the same trani.....

the reason i ask is i have the turbo action rmvb and i was looking at their site and it states the vb only works for the 95-2000 3speed. so i was trying to figure out what the differance is that would make it not work on the 2001 3speed

LCPLPunk was able to install it in his 2001 but said that something needed to be plugged in just trying to figure out what it is
haven't called turbo action yet to ask as they're closed on weekends

The only thing that may be different is how the TC lock-up works the 95-00 might be mechanically actuated and the 01's electronically? Does your tranny have an electrical plug near the selector shaft? ( the shaft that goes through the case to the valve body) The TC lock-up solenoid connector comes through the case near that shaft and is also connected to the valve body. Just guessing here...

As long as it is the THREE-SPEED Automatic, whether it be 2001, 2000, or 1995-99, etc., I bet it is EXACTLY the same.
I don't see why "2001" would be different from a 2000, as long as they are both 3-speeds.

I could be wrong, so I would confirm this with the vendor.

Now, if this is a FOUR-speed automatic we're dealing with, that is a different animal, and will not work.

i've been doing some research and i have found some that sais the 01 is electronic and the 00 is mechanic but would that make the rmvb not work in the 01

i haven't actually looked at the tranny or the stock vb yet i was going to do it over winterbrake but was too busy

95-00 with trani number 4800309AA uses 4567993AC valve body
01 with trani number 4800309AB uses 4567993AD valve body....
Now looking at the trani #'s through Chrysler the 00 and 01 are different but they supersede to the same number and trani.
Honestly, I'd say its a 3speed, you should be fine.....

As I posted above, since the part numbers end up superseding themselves to the same part number, there is no reason why the 00 valve body would not work on the 01 valve body...

im guessing they listed it up to the 2000 since later years came out with the 4 speed trannies. they just want to make sure you have a 3 speed and not a 4 speed.

Was sfting through the FSM, and the '01 lockup is electronic from what I seen. the VB has a solenoid.

When was the changeover from the 3-spd. automatic to the 4-spd. automatic done ??

My guess is 2001, the FSM doesn't have a section for it tho the are some random references. The '01 parts manual lists it tho. From what I've read the '03 up are better suited for Neons as the early years had the V6 gear ratios in the internal gearing, keeping the 2.0 out of it's optimum torque range.
