I assume you are talking about a MP or Maddog type? If so, the hardest part is removing your center console. In other words, no
Make sure you pick up some Jonnymopar cradle bushings, and some Booger bushings as well while you are there

I can tell you that putting the Maddog STS 72-2 in a 2000 was a piece of cake. I believe the whole job from start to finish was just over an hour. I always take my time and clean as I go so you could probably cut that time in half. You will absolutely "LOVE" what the STS does for you.

you know, after breaking two shift linkages, I will not put booger bushings on the shifter ever again... cost me over $100 bucks to fix.

That is money that could be spent on mods, not replacements. I see very little difference with the stock bushings in as opposed to boogers JUST on the rod (I do however have them on the tranny side). Anyway, I have no problems with the product themselves, just not going to use them anymore on the rod.

SAME here.
I have Booger bushings on the tranny end of the cables, and stock bushings at the shifter.
I do
not recommend putting the Booger bushings on the shifter end, I think that it makes the shifter way too stiff.
For the record, "Maddog" does not recommend using Boogers at the shifter end, either. (Only the trans end.)
But some people like the Booger bushings all the way around.
I guess it comes down to personal preference, and the car....

yikes what about when you put the threaded solid shifter ends on like me!!! my shifter moves like robocop!!! boogers on the tranny, 75%+ sts, solid cradle mounts and shifter ends. it all makes for a very notchy shifter. not sure i'd go quite so far if i had it to do over again. plus for anyone that cares, if you don't thread the solid end bushing far enough onto the shifter cables it'll make it even harder to get into reverse and 1st. don't ask how i know, i just do

I have boogers at both ends of my SXT and I like the feel. You just need to learn to let the shifter go into gear and not force it in. I think it made my stock shifter feel pretty good especially with the shorter shift knob I installed.

How are the boogers causing this to happen?

When you put the bushings in there is a chance you could bend the shifter cables if your not careful. I just put mine in on a stock shifter and it is deff worth it. I am gonna get a set of Johny Mopar cradle bushings when he gets more made. If you do the Boogers just make sure when you put them on make sure to seriously lube the shafts on the shifter so they slide on easy.

It's not when you're putting them on, its when you try and take them off since they're really hard to get off. Some people try to pull them off at the shift rod but you can't do that, they have to be removed by prying them off without touching the rod. Don't pull on the rod to try and take them off. lol Been there, done that... you either have to buy new cables or buy some replacement rod ends that a guy named Kyle sells.

Yeah i'm pretty sure my linkage is jacked up. Putting them on was tough, but getting them off was straight up insane. I run Boog's all around with a stock shifter and it feels ok. Would feel better if it didnt feel like all my synchros were shot. I'm convinced the linkage was somehow damaged.

I was planning to order some Boogers soon. Should I not do it then?

No, get them, they feel great and work great... the only PITA you'll ever had with them is if you decide to but a different shifter in down the road where you have to remove your shifter cables again...

Maybe I should get a STS first then.

ROFL that just made my day! On a side note, I found the boogers came off really easy with a pair of channel locks after soaking in WD-40 for 10min.
The durability of the boogers is what I like. When my stock bushings had went bad in my protege`, I could wiggle my shifter atleast 3in to each side while in gear. Nice and sloppy!

what are those things called that the shifter cables attach to at the tranny end? I think one of mine got bent, so I tried to move it back into 'place' - but of course, it is not perfect. Just curious. And can JUST they be replaced?
