Rattle, Rattle

Post by shinta86 » Tue Mar 18, 2008 2:42 pm

My transmission is making a loud rattling noise, sounds like a bolt is getting knocked around or a gear keeps hitting something. It is coming from the transmission mount side and it rattles faster the faster the car is moving. It doesn't matter whether it is in gear or not and it does not affect the way the car drives in any way. I looked at my transmission oil and it is a bit milky. A while back, I did have a problem with the speedo gear not working and when I reached my finger into the hole it felt as if the gear was too far off to the side. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? I am probably going to take it to a tranny shop to see what they think and if I end up having to replace the tranny or if it is costly to fix I am going to probably going to do a SRT4 swap.

Take a look at this. This could very well be the problem: http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=26 ... sc&start=0

My audio is on page 6. I just noticed that it no longer works. I'm going to see about getting it fixed so it works again.

The only thing I noticed was that in the videos the noise is there when the car is still. Whereas mine is only there when the car is moving.

I was just saying that my car does not make the noise when the car is still or even at very slow speeds.

Yes mine sounds exactly like that. And after actually driving my car for the first time yesterday since it started making that sound, I noticed that the sound actually goes away with throttle. So when I push down on the throttle enough, not much at all actually, the sound will go away. When I let off the throttle it is back. Once the again it DOESN'T make the sound when the car is IDLE.
