Me? 20 minutes. But I have a lot of experience in changing axles. The average guy that's never done it before, probably an hour to an hour and a half while you figure out how to get the knuckle far enough away from the trans to get it free.

^^^ whats said above. Easiest way, I think would be to probably disconnect at the ball joint and tie rod that way when you get the new axle in you wouldn't really have to get an alignment. However, with the stock top hats I'm not sure if there is enough movement there to allow you to pull far enough out to get the axle out of the knuckle/wheel bearing. Replacing the axle isn't really all that hard though, they pop out very easily... just remember to put new trans fluid in when you're done since it'll drain out once you pull the axle out of the diff.

Or jack up the car high enough so the trans fluid stays in the trans

Jerry, you would have to flip the car over to accomplish that.
