Tranny bolt up

Post by 04_yelneon » Wed May 14, 2008 3:24 pm

I was wondering will 2.0 dohc block from a 98 neon sport bolt up to an 04 sxt manual transmission? I have a chance to pick up a complete motor but i wasnt sure if my tranny would bolt up to it. Is it worth it anyhow? Its a 2.0 but the a DOHC... Thanks guys...

If you are aiming to put the 98 block into your 04, you will have bigger problems than the trans bolting up.

The crank sensor is very different, and unless you were to rewire the whole car, you will want to stick with an 03+ block.

Kind of a noob ? But wouldn't MS get around the crank sensor (and cam) issue? Not like it would pass emmisions with an older engine (EPA swap rules) let alone the visual with a DOHC. IIRC the donor engine must be the same model year, or newer. Unless thats changed or not enforced.
