trany leak

ok hears the deal i just got done puting my enigne back in and i filled the trany with mopar atf+4 i have a manual trany but when every thing eas all said and done there is a hudge leak under the skid plate that ataches the trany to engine and i think its coming from the seal could i have over filled the tranny and its leaking now i put in 3 quarts and i dont thinkits that but hwat do u guys think

Just remove the top plug and let the excess drain out. Hopefully that's all you need!

Are you speaking of an axle seal leaking? If so, you could have had the same thing happen the you that happened to me, asssuming you pulled the axles out. When I did my trans and pulled the axles out, the spring that rests in behind the seal and keeps tension on it so it will press up against the axle and seal, came out. Thus there was no tension and the seal leaked.
Long story short, if its an axle seal replace the seal. If the spring which is shaped like an o-ring did come loose. it'll be wrapped around the axle and you have to watch for it when taking the axle out or it'll get out and get chewed up inside your tranny. didn't realize this is what had happened to mine but I got lucky cuz the spring fell out when i removed the axle.

I believe Mopar ATF+4 is ONLY for automatic transmissions... there is a different fluid for the manual.
If it was me I would replace that with Mopar Manual Transaxle Lubricant.
The FSM states clearly that automatic transmission fluid should not be used in the manual.

My t-850 has atf+4 in it, its what my parts guy recommended.

2002+ manuals spec'd ATF+4.

Don't feel too bad. Chrysler has played musical oils with the MTX's over the years. My '92 Sundance Duster took 5w-30 engine oil for both motor and MTX.
I dicovered this due to the lack of a trani vent and it had motor oil leaking from the axle seals. Took two service managers and a few trips back to the dealer to find the service bulletin on the missing vent.
