i was changing my oil today and noticed a bunch of grease on the k member and the trans around where the axel is. what does this mean? Is the axel bad?

most likely, Look at the axel closes to the grease there is probably a rip in the boot. If so u should probably think about replacing it soon.

I dont know, is it? Try looking at your axles and the boots, that should tell you something about where the grease came from. Unless you just ran something over that was nasty.

And FYI, a bad CV boot does NOT mean the axle is bad, just means the boot is torn. You can replace just the boots.

I guess im more of the paraniod type of person. I prefer to know its good so I just replace everything.
