Since I've been driving the Neon a LOT more now than I ever have, my clutch has developed an annoying squeak each time I depress and release it. It almost sounds like a squeaky spring, but I don't see a spring anywhere near the clutch pedal... It sounds like an old rocking chair and it's getting on my nerves! I tried picking up some White Lithium Grease and spraying the shaft ("Huh huh - He said "Shaft") that goes through the firewall to see if that would help and it didn't.

Any ideas?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I have the same problem sometime depending on the temperature. I think it's near the pedal, I can't picture it in my head fully right now, but I think its a lil rubber grommet type thing that needs to be lubed a lil.

Mine does the same thing.

Same issue here. It's probably the rod that the brake and clutch pedals pivot on. Whether it's worth dismantling the whole thing to get at it is up to you. I haven't done mine (granted I've only put 1000 miles on my Neon since June).

Next spring will be my "Take The Neon Apart Like A Lego Set 2009" festival when I do a timing belt, full suspension, and some other stuff. Maybe I'll mess with it then.

That sucks. 3 people with the same problem and we're not sure what the deal is! I've tried soaking the hell out of that rubber grommet with the White Lithium grease and it did absolutely nothing other than stink my car up for a week. I'm going to climb back under the dash and see if I can't pinpoint the noise a bit better... It's really getting on my nerves!

Jon, I'm doing pretty good. Been kinda' busy with the Police Academy still, but lost my job a couple of months ago due to this shitbag economy we're riding on. Been surviving on unemployment and hoping to ride it out until February when I graduate. How 'bout you?

Well, that's been the fix for about 3 weeks now... I just took my subwoofer out of the trunk so I don't turn my music up very loud anymore so I tend to hear that noise more.

I need to find some scent-free lubricant of some type and I'll just go ape-shit on everything that moves under the dash!

As a side, I have the same problem with mine. There are two plastic bushings on the pedal shaft that may be worn. I bought new ones when I did my SRT set-up, but I didn't put them in. "These look fine." Apparently not

I have the same problem, HOWEVER......





I have a semi remedy. I sprayed the spring and mechanical joints with white grease. The helps for a while.

You ever think to consider its the throwout bearing
I have a brand new one on my R/T making the same noise....

same problem.... only solution is clutchless shifting

I could have swore that white grease on the pivot points worked for me.

I'll have to try that grease again, then... It just stinks so bad!

anyone find a resolution to the squeaky clutch pedal?

mine is quite squeaky too, have tried lubing up the shaft but no help.
