well my atx died today... kind of a godsend lol

so im planning on swapping to an mtx
the car is a 2000 le, so from what i understand if i stick with a 2000 mtx i wont need a pcm, nor will i have to change part of the firewall.

parts list?....

Shifter Assembly
Shift Cables
Pedal Assembly
Passenger Axle
Clutch Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
Transmission/bell housing/clutch
MTX Trans mount

also what 5 spd transmissions can i put in this car? i know chrysler used them in various models.

thanks. since ive read more, i also wont need the passenger side axle correct? and also can i put a 1st gen in my 2gen?

I'm not 100% sure on the axle, but IIRC, as long as the bell housings are swapped, the MTX can be used in either 1 or 2 gn.

I thought it was all one piece? atleast the T-850 is, dont forget flywheel. The all pre 03 neons are not modular, if I recall correctly.
You could actually get around the mtx ecu atleast for a bit if you fix the neutral safety switch wiring which is only 3 wires. I ran mine like that for a little while.

hmm so can i take my 2000 atx bellhousing and put it on a pre 2000 mtx?

no you want a 200 to 2002 bell housing( cable) and then any versions of the t350 will mate up to the bell housing,even 03-05. but depends on what you are wanting power wise and all cuz there are i think 3 different gear ratios or maybe just 2????

The only 2gn's that where cable clutch are the 2000's. '01 and up are hydro. All 1gn's are cable.

ok so basically as of tonight i have

Shifter Assembly

and a 2000 pcm being shipped to me saturday-ish

i also have located a 1stgen 5 spd 3.94 tranny

all i need to know is what i need to do to make it bolt up, or if it even will?

Since yours is a 2000 it should bolt right in, except IDK about the axle?

Damn that sucks. The 1g and 2g use the same engine block for both sohc and dohc, so theoretically the bell housing will bolt right up. Not sure about the trans mount, although it looks very similar. The 1g trans is rated for less TQ than the 2g, not sure if it's due to the hydraulic vs. cable setup though.

The 95 neon/avenger/eclipse are the only T-350's that are non- modular (seperate flywheel, clutch plate, and pressure plate). Every 96-05 neon is modular (flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate riveted together in 1 unit).
