Scratching noise

Post by heydockyle » Sat Sep 26, 2009 9:17 pm

Well lets see here. Just put a new throwout bearing and PT clutch in my car. Put a little grease on the throwout. Put everything together. Everything worked and sounded good. About 150 miles later every time I push the clutch, or release the clutch it makes like a scratching noise. Kinda sounds Like a really loud squeaky cable. The sound seems to be coming from the save cylinder. Well now at 225 miles it has gotten louder and is really annoying.

What could it be?

Did you check/lube the pivot ball that the release fork is connected to? Possibly the plastic ball is damaged? I also put a dab of lube in the socket that the slave cyl push rod rides in. Also where the fork slides into the TOB might be making noise, unless it is the TOB it self. :(

TOB is brand new so I hope not. And I don't think there is any lube on the ball, or the shaft the clutch is on. Also just figured i'd add it only does it once it warms up.

No that's what it used to do because tob was bad. This is a screaching noise when I press the clutch down and when I let it up
