The output shaft (part of the FD) is over $1000. It is cheaper to buy the 1.8 mtx.

There's a guy I think his name is Drakito on the other org that rebuilds trannies. I think he does 4.12 conversions as well. He might be of some help.

I thought this guy was looking for a 3.94 set.
The 4.12 is $$$, but it would be interesting.

That was my impression, too.
Scratch the 1.8 MTX. The '01 parts has it as the same as the R/T MTX. The 4.12 is the 1.6 MTX part number 5016669AD $2,770.00
Standard 3.94 gears:
Part Number: 5017853AA SHAFT TRANSAXLE $1,370.00
Part Number: 4761103 GEAR DIFFERENTIAL RI $225.00

Unless Drakito has a (cheaper) source for 4.12 gears, it will be way OTT.

Or you could just get shorter tires, it accomplishes the same thing.

Yeah, but you may be scraping the underside of your car off to do it.
Fuck it, weight reduction FTW!

I figure the gap between 3.94 to 4.12 is small enough it wouldn't be a problem. How much smaller would you really need to go, maybe 2 sidewall sizes smaller.
It would be a bigger problem with 17's though, don't want the sidewall too thin.

I was thinking more in terms of 3.55 to 4.12, and I was adding a little exaggeration/humor to it.
