clutch fluid resevoir

i had my clutch done about 8-10k miles ago.

i was poking around in my engine bay today, and saw that my clutch fluid reservoir was just laying there behind the battery and i picked it up.

thats when i figured out it was the reservoir, and that the hose wasn't attached.

there isn't any fluid left in it and the nipple thing the hose goes on was broken off in the hose.

i searched on the boards, and didn't really find any info out on it. my guess is that i have been driving without the fluid since i got the clutch done. the clutch engagement and drivability don't feel any different than it ever has.

i know i have to replace it, and i am planning on doing it soon, but what is the danger in driving it until i do?

and do you guys think its been too long to have the place that did my clutch to do it?

As in have them pay for the replacement? I doubt you would get far with that, as there is no way to prove they broke it. The next day probably. The harm would be that moisture is being absorbed by the brake fluid the clutch system uses. Unfortunately, you are going to have to replace the whole assy. Not sure how long it will last, as you don't know how long it has been broken.

Now the thing is, do you let the shop that might have done it replace it for you, or do you take it elsewhere/or attempt the fix yourself?

This may help somewhat.

can you get just the reservoir that bolts to the firewall?

It might be difficult. Most reman/new master cylinders require you to reuse your reservior. You can always call and ask tho.

Put a PN request up in the PN section. If it is available, Dante, or BRR will let you know.

NAPA, Advance, and AutoZone all show just the master cylinder, no reservior/prefilled lines. Price $67.00 to $85.00

So for $30 to $40 more, the oem one is not a bad price...

But anyhow, a JY may be the best bet for finding a new reservior.
