MPx Clutch Pivot Arm and Bushing .......issues

So I had my my clutch pivot arm bushing go out a while back and I decided to take care of it by replacing it with the MPx one. First let me say it is a very nice piece and replacing it was a breeze, I changed it out right before I headed out to the Baltimore meet and man what a difference felt great and solid I couldnt have been happier. So everything was fine up until Monday afternoon, I was at mcdonalds in the drive through when all of a sudden the clutch pedal just fell to the floor and luckily I was able to roll to a parking space. I didnt know what it could be so I looked underneath at the pedals and saw this:

the rod for the clutch master cylinder snapped and I was like WTF!!! So I figured maybe the rod was bent before I switched out and I over stressed or something so w/e. I go to the dealer and order a new master cylinder for 115.00 and it was special order. No big deal i got it and I go to switch them out today, Fun.

So switching them out took about 30 min and I hook everything up and I go to hit the pedal and it felt funny I look underneath again and I see this:

So now I dunno wat to do, I know I installed everything right but I dont know why its doing this. I spoke to modern and they said to send the piece back for a refund but that doesn't answer my question of why it is doing this. I manged to straighten to rod back enough to get the car home. So what do you guys think any ideas????

Ouch?

Somewhere the travel has shortened and the fluid is hydrolocking your MC.

I take it that you installed, pressed the clutch pedal, and the push rod bent.

Possibly the TOB has seized on the shaft? Unfortunately, you just can't take the slave loose, and push the pedal to see if that is moving, or damage to the slave may occur. You could try prying against the lever to see if the TOB is able to move/compress the pressure plate a little.

Edited for missing comma, to save Grandpa's miserable life.

Well once I straightened the rod the car ran fine and i pushed it by hand the first few times to get any air out but once I went to start the car is when it felt funny and bent. It looked almost as if the pivot arm and rod didnt line up just right I dunno the car ran fine till i changed this

Grandpa thanks you

Now that I see the pics it make more sense to me. I'm still with Bill on this one man. Think of this...with the old pivot in there, you were having problems shifting into 1st, yes? And when you pulled out the original part the bushing was half missing. Since that part is plastic it may have taken the abuse of the shorter travel instead of the rod. Now that you have the nifty metal part in there, the pot metal piece is the weakest link.

Methinks something on the trans side is screwing up the works :(

I would only have trouble going into first when the bushing would slide off the arm if I put it back on, it was fine. When the bushing finally broke and there was no other choice I had to replace it, is when I bought this piece but honestly it shifted fine, how else would I have been able to go to the track so many times before lol.

I don't think it is a problem with the pivot arm/MC, it has to be either at the slave/something blocking fluid flow to the slave/or after the slave in the linkage to the pressure plate. Or the pressure plate.

Unless the pedal assy has come loose/out of alignment. But I think you would have noticed that.

Yea I would have, I replaced the pivot arm with the stock one now the car runs fine. The pedal feels normal and the master cylinder arm actually straightened up a lot more so the problem was with that piece I believe. I am going to buy another master cylinder just to be on the safe side since it is a special order part, just in case this one snaps. I have talked to John about this issue and I also find it hard to believe that the pivot arm is the issue, but its not like its a hard part to install and it cant be installation error I just dont know. The difference between the stock pivot arm and the Mpx one are ones plastic and ones metal and the mpx one has a cover where the stock one didnt but thats it really. I dont know, John says he will try it on his car and see how it does. Maybe my car is just picky

There is a big issue with these on SRTforums. Alot of people have that breaking. Do you have the new style with the two piece design?

By two piece design, do you mean the reinforcement plate that sandwiches the rod?

1st pic shows that, if it is what you meant. Kind of hard to see, but it is there. I thought maybe it was left off too, but then I looked again.

Ya they said that little sandwhich piece was suppose to fix the breaking and bending problem. I would call them ASAP and let them know that this piece is still breaking the arms. Alot of people were pissed on SRTforums about this piece.

I think I'll stick with trinity_rush2001's method, when the time comes.

Yea I did call them. I told them what happened and asked what clutch I had and that was it, Then they just told me that it shouldnt be happening but that I could return it for a full refund. Sux that i didnt realize that this was an issue, it is such a small thing that I didnt think to re search it you know

Ya thats BS. They steal Rages design then they make a half ass one that breaks peoples parts. Atleast now we know why the RageTek one is double the price.

That may very well be. I have no need or interest to look into it.

Only reason I did was because I did the trinity mod and its still broke within monthes. So I searched everywhere for a fix.
