if it is the tranny, could i get one from a junk yard???

and if so. should i just do a mtx swap? (i dont know how to drive stick) or should i just leave it at atx?
how much would this cost if i did get it from a junk yard and put it in myself?

and if it is the pcm, could i find one from a junk yard to?
and install it my self?
how much would this cost?

A JY one might not be any better, or worse. You wouldn't know until you installed it. It should be taken to the dealer to get everything in sync. They do a quick learn procedure that gets everything in tune. If it is bad, you will be out the time and $ for the install. I doubt a JY would cover that part.

A PCM will also need flashed at the dealer. If you do a MTX swap, you will need the MTX PCM and bay harness to make it much simpler.

It would need to be an '03/'04 PCM/harness. '05 might work, but they are more picky about any mods.

are you sure your not just trying to ramp up posts so you can sell something here? you ask the same thing over and over. The questions you are asking us tell us that you need to take it to someone who knows how to fix it. not trying to be a dick but, it is what it is.

His post count is plenty high enough to sell stuff, So if that was the case, he would already be hawking his stuff.

Sell stuff? no. if anything looking to buy.

and look. im just worried as hell. its my first car. i feel raped cuz i cant drive it.

i am DREDing taking it somewhere to have it looked at. not becuase of the price it will be to have it looked at. its the price that will come after.

one side is hoping, oh its just this lil tiny sensor thats only 20 bucks.

the other side is like. um sorry to break it to you but you need a new trans.

i just want to try and KNOW what it is so it isnt a SHOCK to me when they tell me. thats all.

and you guys tell me good information. its just i dont wanna go ahead and read it and then mis understand it. then go ahead and do it and screw stuff up even more.

when working on my car, i want to be TRIPLE sure i understand it RIGHT.

get what im saying? i know a little more then others. but everyone can learn more. and never know to much.

If you're not ready for a shock, source another trans and try that. Attempting to swap to MTX will be a bit tougher than you want, and harder than you seem to want things to be. Trans problems typically = mad 'spensive.

okay so im taking it to cumberland valley motors tonight. pretty far though so i hope my car holds up...

its like 20 minute drive and thats going 40 or 50 mph...

or should i have it towed?

and should i take my amp and subwoofer out? i dont want them to be like (oh wow he has a system lets see how good it is) and end up blowing things...

Posted: Sun May 23, 2010 8:31 pm
by heydockyle
Wouldn't worry about the system. If the car is stuck in gear I wouldn't drive it there.

Posted: Sun May 23, 2010 8:45 pm
by thisdieingdream1
but ill be driving only 20 or 25 mph with it... so shouldnt it be okay?

Posted: Sun May 23, 2010 8:48 pm
by heydockyle
Depending on what gear it's stuck in. If it's first and you don't try to rev it to the rev limiter then yea I guess. If it's higher then 1st it's gonna be hard on it to be pulling out in a higher gear.

i think its stuck in 2nd. and honestly the highest i ever revd it was 5500...

other then that i HATE geting near 3000rmps

if i take it reallll easy on it pulling out and all... and i dont rev it. will it be fine?

I don't think we know for sure it's the trans. It may be something computer related..

Can't guarantee it will be fine, but you don't have much of a choice. Just better be easy on it.

odds are it is in limp mode. the goal of limp mode is to protect the equipment so it can be take in for repair.

it is in limp mode... my car was FINE after i reved 5500 rmps...

and i went to my girls house... turned the car off... chilled for about 20 mins... turned it back on and went home and pulled it in the drive way... and it was fine...

i woke up started wokring on my sound system and blew a fuse in the dpc or dcp or what ever... and gauge cluster went all funny and said fuse so i found the fuse and fixed it with the replacement one... and i got done with my sound system and went to go to my girls house... pulled out of my drive way and my engine light was on. and i went down the street and something was wrong...and i found out it wasnt shifting at all....

hey i dont mean to be bumping my thread or anything.

but

my car is a 04. and i got it off of a dealer in september october? of last year... and it only had 37345 miles on it when i got it... and now has 41000+

am i out of the warrenty or do i still have it???

Posted: Mon May 24, 2010 11:07 am
by racer12306
You should have the 7 year/70,000 mile warranty still in effect, if it was transferred to you. I don't know if they could go back and transfer it this far after the fact if it wasn't transferred at the time of sale.

To honor that warranty it will need to go to a dealer. If the shop the car is at now isn't a dealer you need to call them and say don't touch it. Then call your local dealer and talk to them about it. Have your VIN handy and they can tell you everything you need to know.
