04, 4spd

Which member on this forum would you recommend that I talk to about beefing up the 04' 3sp tranny to make it bullet proof. Or should I just throw it in the trash

I really want to just upgrade the internals of the Major Organs (engine, tranny) of my SE and not swap out....but if the majority rules ....and the majority, being those with Experience...say "trash it and swap it" Well then....common sense.

P.S. I hate my tranny, seriously, and I don't even drive my neon fast at all.

There was never an OEM 3 speed in a 2004 Dodge Neon.

You have an electronic 4 speed. I can tell you now, the majority is going to say swap in a manual.

First of all your '04 has a 4 speed ATX. 3 speeds haven't been used since '01.

There isn't much available for upgrades, unless you get a turbo PT/or '02 neon 41te. Even the non turbo PT's got the 40te like yours.

There will be no difference in performance, unless your's is dying.

An MTX swap will help, but you need all the pedals/cables/master and slave cylinders/PCM, etc.

Yeah, I remember doing a atx to mtx on my 98', not really that much fun. That is why i was trying to escape extra labor of the pedals, and shifter, the inside work. Ok, i was wrong about the 3spd. I was just glancing through other topics in the Drivetrain forum, and was just skimming to fast and mis read a post. Thanks for the update on the proper tranny. I

There is stuff out there, just damn little. And it can be pricey.

Search the web for A604, 41te, 40te. Maybe some of the shadow/sundance stuff.

Mate swap the damn thing ...I baby my 4 speed auto cause I'm scared to hammer the car ...I drive it like a baby ....plus I have a wierd funky 2nd to 3rd change at slow speed that no body on the friggen planet can work out!!!!!!!!!
