Weird sound only when reversing
Weird sound only when reversing
Hey guys, I've recently come about this noise when I put the car into reverse. It seems to only happen when I'm in reverse, any ideas (it's an auto btw)?

That "whirring" noise is usually only on MTX cars when backing up though.FAC3L3SS wrote:^ Which is common in like ehm all cars, so if that's the case OP, you're fine.

What kind of a rattle? Have you checked to make sure your motor/trans mounts are good and your exhaust is still tight?
Does it happen all of the time when you reverse, or only when you hit the gas harder or with the wheels turned, etc?

Does it happen when you reverse in a straight line or when you're turning one way or another?
If it is also associated with turning it could be your CV joint.

Yeah, I've also noticed it when I was pulling into the drive way, I usually have to turn hard right to get into my parking spot. So yeah I guess I hear it when I turn the wheels, but also if im just reversing straight.hansken_yo wrote:Does it happen when you reverse in a straight line or when you're turning one way or another?

Does it only make the sound when you initially shift it into gear, then stop after a few seconds?
If so, it is normal solenoid noise.
