This forum is a waste of time.

Well for starters, you can't sell anything here until you have the required posts, and a pic of said item.

There are rules posted in the For Sale section...
You have no input/output sensors, again a 41te issue. (4 speed)
You have the 31th.
Prolly the only fix is a rebuild, or the valve body is not right. The pan is glued on with RTV silicone. You will need to drive a putty knife in between with a hammer to get it started. The pan is pretty stout, so it shouldn't bend. Besides, it's only $16 if you do manage to screw it up.
Just don't mess up the case.

please tell me WHY I'd ever do that. I paid $300 for it, and already have at least 100 into it. I plan to sell it when it's done for 2000. So why would I sell it to you for 400? You sir are a lowballer, and it is not appreciated here.
I got the pan off and replaced the filter and have yet to fill with fluid. How do I check the valve body?
Also, that wasn't a serious fs listing... More of a "if anyone needs this, hit me up." for all you know, I could be giving it away.
is there anything else to look at on the 31th that goes bad commonly?

First, you need to clean the sand and other debris away from the undercarriage. (That's so awesome how that worked out...)

You will be lucky as a private seller, to get $2000 for an '00.
$400 is a fair price for a 10 year old car with a trans issue. Especially if it is going to/might need a $800 rebuild.
If it was insured, and totaled ATM, your insurance wouldn't give you crap for it. They could give a shit what you have invested in it. It is the same for potential buyers.
Don't put a lot into it, expecting big bucks.
Don't get put out when someone makes you an offer, that isn't up to what you think it might be worth.
Just stating the FS rules. It is what it is.

I know my area, and I know what these are going for in my area with similar mileage. I can DEFINITELY get $2000 for it, that's not even a question. I can probably get 2500. Once the trans is fixed. The car is very clean. Even if I have to replace the trans, I can get a used one for $200. I was hoping I'd get some ideas from you neon guys on how to fix the current trans. I bought this car already planning to replace the trans- it's been considered in the budget, but I want to be 100% sure that the trans in it is blown first.
$400 may be a fair offer for the car, but I had already stated that I bought it for $300 and did the plugs serpintine belt and battery. Offering me $400 knowing this is a dick move, especially when I said I bought the car to make profit. I wouldn't sell the car as I sits for less than $1500, because that's what my profit will be.

Think what you'd like, but, as was already stated, 400 for a car with a trans problem is about accurate, and buyers don't care what's already been done. So instead of getting butt hurt about someone offering you money, just politely say no thank you, and move on.
That being said, it sounds like your trans is FUBAR'd, a rebuild is probably in the very near future.

1. I removed the "selling" part of your post. Once you get enough posts, post it up for sale.
2. No, the car is not worth more than $400. You could hardly get $1000 for a running 00 Neon.
3. Good luck with fixing your problem.
4. Carry on.

Damn, I think the sand is going to be getting dangerously close to the greasy areas of the undercarriage.

Wow. Clearly I can see I'm wasting my time on this forum. I came here to help diagnose a problem. What I can or cant get for the car has nothing to do with the matter. Look up what 00 Neons are going for on craigslist with 80k miles if you think im mistaken. Im not butthurt, I just think youre all severely misinformed. Like I already stated before, $400 WOULD BE a good price for the car, if i hadnt stated in my very first post that I bought the car to make a profit, paid $300 for it, and already have over $100 into it. You really think id let it go for $400? lol. Im really not that pissed about it- but I didnt come on here disrespecting anyone, I dont think its unreasonable that I expect the same in return. Although... Internet + Neon drivers, what do I expect?
I was also under the impression that there were some people on here that had some real technical knowledge.
Youre telling me that the SAME problems that people experience and fix with their four speeds are unfixable on the 3spd without replacing the whole trans? The problems Im experiencing are the same as a bad shifter pack or input/output sensors on the four speed. There are no common, easily fixable problems associated with the three speed?

I think we're telling you to piss off if that's the attitude you are going to have, actually. We tried to help, you jumped on someone's shit for offering to buy your car, now you're continuing the shit stirring. I'm done in this thread.

I didnt even come CLOSE to jumping on his shit. I told him that $400 to me is a lowball. I explained why, multiple times. I was then flamed.
It was never my intention to start shit, and I thought i was being exceptionally polite given how BLATANT of a lowball that was.
But if "piss off" is your position, then piss off I will. Thanks 2gn. Peace.

Well, no actually when it has been shown SEVERAL times that it is, in fact, a valid price and you still claim it isn't, that's jumping on his shit.
"Piss off" is my official position, not 2gn.org's

This is really getting frustrating, because Im agreeing with you, but youre not listening.
If there was no other information provided, except that I have a neon with a blown trans, then YES, $400 would be a very fair offer.
The point that Im making is given that I had already stated my initial investment, my plans for the car, and how much Id already spent on parts... GIVEN THAT... $400 is a lowball.
"Piss off" may be your official position, but to me, you speak for the entire community. I'm having better luck on two other (much tinier) dodge forums anyway. 2ng is the Honda-Tech of Neons. A waste of time.
Again I say, peace. And IBTL.

See, now that's where you are wrong. I AM listening. And your plans don't mean a thing. The fact is, you have a car that is 10 years old, with a trans issue that may need a rebuild. So whether you are hoping to sell it for 2K or 20K, that doesn't matter. Someone offered you a fair amount for it (not less than you have already paid for it) and you jumped all over his shit saying he's a lowballer, etc. A lowballer would have offered you 50 dollars for it, FYI.
As far as the rest of it, we have tried to help you, so I don't really know how you think we're a waste of time here. Because we aren't all offering to drive out to your house and jerk you off while rebuilding your trans for you? You asked questions, we've tried to answer them.
If we're a waste of time for that, then I say good riddance.
I thought you were leaving, BTW, why are you still posting?

Well I forgot entirely about this thread. I paid 400$ for my 2000 3 years ago with a good trans and it only needed a starter wire. You stated in your first post that you had roughly $400 into the car. I was simply offering what the car is worth and a return on what you had into it.
That said you are nutty if you think any 2000 neon on Craigslist that is privately owned is gonna pull 2k. Odds are those are dealers cars and they will never sell.
Go to the big org and give them your vag sand we dont want anymore!

Comparing a 31th, and a 41te, and thinking the similar problems can be solved in the same way, just shows us you have no idea of what you got yourself into.
One is controlled by electronics/solenoids, the other purely hydraulic and mechanical. Hard parts will need looked at in your case. There is no swapping a sensor, and thinking it will be fixed. It is either not shifting into third, because the shift linkage is not adjusted properly, the kickdown is not adjusted properly, the VB is stuck, or the clutchpack is shot. The first two are no brainers.
Coming here and wanting advice, so you can flip a car and likely never post again, and then be disappointed because you only gave it a few days to get the magic fix, possibly shows you are no great loss.

Well now Im just having fun. You neon drivers are just as much fun to fuck with on the forums as on the road.
Youre a waste of time because you zone in on some lowball, which wasnt even the point of this thread. His offer was a lowball to me. Whether or not you consider it one is irrelevant. Youre the one getting butthurt because Im not willing to tolerate a lowball, or bow down to the all knowing neon owners. Thats your problem, not mine. Seems like there are more people on this forum that just like to argue than there are of knowledgeable people. The only useful info ive gotten from this thread is that the three speed is a 31TH. Google coulve helped me out with that one. The general consensus on here seems to be "oh your trans isnt working? Rebuild or replace it." I understand theyre a dime a dozen, but Im not trying to replace the trans until ive confirmed its blown, which ive yet to do.
I shouldve expected this coming onto a Neon forum. If any of you actually knew something, you wouldnt be driving a Neon.
Got anything else? Im bored at work, I could go at it with you all day. But Ill be sure to PM you my final sale price once the car is fixed and sold.

I doubt you're going to have that chance.
That being said, try reading, your "solutions" have already been posted. Perhaps if you spent as much time reading and researching instead of insulting us for owning a Neon (which by the way jackass, so do you... and we know more about them, so who's the retard now?) you could have solved your problem and sold your solid gold POS.
Feel free to continue insulting us, however.

I would, and would pretty much enjoy doing so, but thankfully Bill posted up some information that I can actually do something with. Because of this, I dont feel as though Ive completely wasted my time. At least I have a starting point upon which to begin researching. Despite the fact that Im a noob and have acted a fool a bit here- he still helped me out. For this I say thanks.
I think this thread has run its course. I can search on my own from here. Occasional Demons, thanks. Random1, thanks for the laughs.

Hey there sunshine, most of us own neons because we wanted them over our choice of over done Honda's, or Ford festivas and Geo metros. That said bill has already told you that the solution to your tranny problem is to have it looked at by someone who isn't an incompetent fool like yourself. Odds are if your transmission isn't working the simplest solution is a transmission swap!
Get the sand out of your eggsac and do something productive, no need to belittle any of us because of your shortcomings.
