Right size transmission cooler

So I was looking at all threads people posted who have the 3 speed auto and when the rad lets go it kills the transmission.

I want to avoid this at all costs. So would bypassing the rad for a 5" x 12 3/4" transcooler unit be the right size for the car and its 31TH transmission. Remember this car lives in phoenix so temps in the summer are 120+ and winter temps are at the lowest in the 30s.

The smallest available will be fine.

A 3" x 11" stacked plate type would prolly do, but you will prolly pay more for the proper size, so the 5" x 12" will be fine. You aren't going to see 30ºF temps too often, so over cooling shouldn't be a problem.

I like stacked plate designs better, as there is much more surface area than the tube/fin types. The "tubes" are basically the fins.
